Utility Insurance

Utility insurance company Columbia Gas Ohio collects premium for says they didn't get premium from Columbia for coverage 12-2018 and 1-2019. Columbia says they paid them for those dates but says they can't call insurance company on Dads behalf. So my 89 yr old Dad is caught in the middle trying to prove Columbia gas paid the insurance co. How's he supposed to do that?

Had teams of contractors in my garage tearing it apart during this crisis and had to be relocated, came back to access the damage, flooded, the place and tools are missing. I can’t believe this, they need to go.

So this is gonna be a *** rant just a heads up!!! About 10 years ago maybe more , time flies. They sent me a notice they need to change my meter and to call to set it up. Week later they swap it out all good. Not 2 hours later I go out to leave.the house and as soon as I walk within 20 feet of my meter I get a whiff or gas. Nah can't be. Sure enough he GD thing is leaking. Unbelievable. So they come out and fix it. Wow did I just dodge being blown to *** So again they need to swap the meter few years later. They took it upon themselves to just do it without telling us this time. I have radiant floor heat so if there is an issue it takes about 24 to 36 hours for the entire house to cool down. Working 60 plus hours 6 days a week I come home Saturday night and the house is 60 degrees it's been a below 10 degrees for three days straight with three more forecasted. I come home at 7 p.m. and immediately have to deal with having no heat. After tryimg to fix and diag myself with a.good friend till 11:30 we finally decide it must have to do with the meter outside. No way I said, why would that be? Whatever I'll go look. Sure as *** there is a F#ck!n lock on my meter in now sub zero temps. I was fuming as I called Columbia standing outside in the dark. They said they wluld send somebody out in a few hours. I just lost it on them. So apparently they left a notice on our front door to call them to have the gas turned back on after the meter swap. We use that door maybe once month. We could have had burst pipea.who knows. What if we were on vacation? Later I was told they arent supposed to shut people off at all after mid Oct. as a company policy never mind mid Nov. in a cold snap. They suck. Hmmmm what do you do. It's a monopoly.

Have not turned on gas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The gas company put new meters on about a month ago and mysteriously discovered a “long standing” gas leak so they would not turn my gas back on after the swap out till I got it repaired. My gas bill ran about $36 per month which is just about minimum with all their fees.

I had to get a plumbing/heating contractor to come assess the line and replace it. It took about 3 weeks to get the work done. I called the gas company last week when the new line was installed and they said the earliest they could get someone here was today. I called at 1 PM and they said “They technically have till midnight”.

I called the gentleman that turned it off so he called Columbus. I just got a call 7:30 PM saying they are coming but “it will be a minute”. I asked how long a minute is. “Well he has a job to do in Ray, then he will come back to you.” Ray is a neighboring town.

I told her this is ridiculous. She said “you were scheduled for today, but it wasn’t scheduled”.

No show...TWICE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I called and scheduled to have our downstairs apartment gas turned on so that my contractor could do work untilwe moved a tenant into the apartment. Appointment scheduled...no show. I call the next day, get another date scheduled, waited at the apartment all day phone in hand, no show. Both times I had my phone always with me, answered every single call, and I was onsight, as well as having my contractor onsight to back up these facts. The technician just plain never called or showed. What a waste of time and total *** They know that they have you at their mercy too, what are your options?

Columbia Gas of Ohio's incompetence and insolence

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Columbia Gas of Ohio is by far the worst natural gas company in all of North America. Their price is way too high for the lousy service they are providing.

Columbia Gas of Ohio is now harassing its customers by demanding a safety inspection of one's gas meter. I had my first appointment for a gas meter inspection on June 5, 2018 around noon but nobody showed up and Customers Service told me that my gas meter is under lock and key and cannot be accessed. Which is a shameless lie because our gas meters are open to public access in the apartment building where I live (285 N Sandusky St, Apt 11, in Delaware City, Ohio). So I made another appointment for August 17 between noon and 2 pm.

Again nobody showed up except for somebody leaving a message on my phone that my meter is supposedly under lock and key. Now Columbia Gas of Ohio is threatening to terminate my service on Sept.

4. I've complained to their management, but no one there seems to care one bit because I've got no response at all.

Poor company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have never paid for gas in my life. This company has horrible customer service and charge for every little thing. $90 for next day appts. with no guaranteed time frame. $75 to light your stove for you on top of $96 upfront deposit. And whatever other fees that were just ran down. If I have to deal with this company next year also, I will not renew my lease at my complex. Poor experience with young people who’s probably not even paying bills yet.

No system for getting gas back on

I need to have my gas turned back on and my appliances tested. I called to schedule an appointment and the only thing that I was told was that I need to be home and if they would give me no idea when they would be there between now and the next couple of weeks. I need to work. I need to leave the house to find a warm shower. I need to leave the house for meals. I was told that if I miss the gas company they will leave a note on my door and I will have to start the process over again. This is on except a bowl with no consideration of homeowners. A fifth grader can schedule the cruise within certain working districts and give the consumer a window.

Columbia Gas Home Solutions

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

What Columbia Gas customers need to realize is that they no longer service your home heating system, hot water heater, etc. They have outsourced all of their service business to Columbia Home Solutions, which you must subscribe to, and is fairly expensive.

To make matters worse, Columbia Home Solutions in turn contracts out the work to random local service providers who already have their own customers that get preference over Home Solutions customers, so you may have a long wait for service.

I had to wait several days for someone to come out and repair my gas burner, and that was in September. So imagine how bad it is in January.

There are many reputable HVAC service companies out there, and I would finding one you like rather than using these guys.

I wonder if its out of spite or incompetence

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I only get a bill every other month from Columbia via email or mail, even tried to set up automatic payments using my checking account, but got a letter saying "no account found" even though i put in the exact same information for all of my other recurring bills, (granted those are fixed) which to be fair i should know better and check my balance on my own, but it has me wondering if its done intentionally in order to rack up more late charges, or if the company is simply incompetent, not sure which is worse to be honest, thankfully i only have to deal with this company for a few more months, by far the most disorganized group of misfits that I've ever dealt with regarding utilities

Will never be a customer of this company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
These people at Columbia gas of Ohio are very incompetent and very unprofessional. My account was closed on this property when I got rid of this property in 2010. Yet they failed to remove my name and closed the account. This property has change owners at least twice already because I checked the county auditors website. Something they should have done but instead harassed me. I recently provided paperwork showing who currently owns the property through my own research. They tell they will closed the account but I still get current statements. Very incompetent company.

Columbia Gas is a JOKE

The shut-off notice was in our bushes also!!!

Original review Mar 08, 2018
Columbia gas is a joke. Ours was turned off by mistake. The card used for auto pay was stolen and the payment was obviously declined. With hundreds of other bills you just don't keep track of each ones payments, hence auto pay. Asked me to pay another $215, then reinstatement. 30 degrees in the house and not hot water and my wife has to be at home all day in this. On top of that they said we now have to pay $113 a month for 9months???? There's other options out there now in Franklin county, and Columbia has some competition, at least with billing and service, GET RID OF COLUMBIA GAS. It is completely wrong to turn on someone's heat in the winter, they can keep it in and still collect all money due. I'm switching asap.

When I don't receive my bills for "mounts" at a time, I also make sure not to call them until I'm up to my ears in debt. I also hold them accountable for the failure of government entities to perform their duties in a satisfactory manner.
