Columbia gas of VA shut off the gas to my home without warning or proper notice
DO NOT GO WITH THEM
They shut my gas off without notice while it was 28 degrees outside, when I called to get it turnt back on the needed fees in top of fees, and then Im told they cant turn it back on till Monday, its Sunday and calling for snow. I have many animals and my house is hard wood it is absolutely freezing in here.
So Im told if I pay a 95$ fee theyll be able to send someone out before Monday. So I paid them over 300$ to turn my gas back on, call them back just to be told yet again that someone wont be on till Monday?
My gas shouldnt have been cut off for one without a warning. This company is complete *** excuse my language but Ive had it with them.

We were an affected family and Columbia Gas of Massachusetts made our life a living Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst and even poor service...unpolte costumers service.
poor costumer service. the supervisor display as a decoration only.Heartless and no consideration, needs revamp of employees and at certain time hope for another gas service in the area.

How the *** do you find your shut off date
Basically i bird brained and paid my bill a total of 4 days past the due date. My bill was under $27 and i have been a customer for over 13 years.
I literally cannot find the shut off date. I cannot find shut off policy. On my bill it says there will be a 5% fee after the due date, nothing about shut off (apparently that only lasts 3 days). Anyways they shut me off 4 days late and right at the end of their office hours.
In regard to shut off date, how long they typically wait: The notice says nothing. The app says nothing. The website says nothing. I recieved no notice and was blind sided.
Definitely not a great idea to list a 5% fee after the due date which would leave one to believe they could wiggle a few days but not list a shut off date especially if shut off is 4 days later with no notice.
No bueno. I would switch companies if i had the option.
Pestering customers
I decided in fall 2018 to discontinue using my home furnaces. I decided to use electric as my only source so i could cut down on bills.
All through the winter they pestered me to use their gas for heating. My home was warm enough using electric. Today may 11,2019 i receive a letter saying they need to come out and do an inspection of my gas appliances. I havent used gas appliances ever just the furnace.
They have driven me crazy. I have doctors appointments and work i have to do.
I dont have time for this. I told them to remove service just so i dont have to do with them.
Shut off service without notification
We were in Europe on vacation. When we came back, service was shut off.
Fine, we were late on our bill. However, they sent no mail to our door. They did not call us and leave a message. Nothing.
Then, they leave a hand-written note in our door that service has been shut off. There is ONE number to call. That is to an automated payment service. We pay the bill, then wait.
Nothing. For a full day. We have no idea when service will be turned back on. Nothing.
Complete ghetto company.
We have paid our bills for decades. Could you give us a call?f

Shut my service off 2 days late
I missed my payment by 2 days for 130 dollars. They shut my gas off and forced me to pay an 89 dollar reconnect fee and a 380 dollar deposit.
I was 2 days late and my account had no previous balance due. They acted like I hadnt paid my bill in months. 2 days late....really? I cant stand this company.
Worst experience ive ever had. Ive been a customer in the same house for 5 years.
Train Your Drivers
On May 30 near Rte 30 and Ragged Edge rd in Chambersburg PA at about 2010hrs . One of your drivers of a suv with the last 4 of 8495 on the license plate and with Columbia Gas on the drivers side door, and with safety reflective tape on the bacwhile driving in the vicinity stated above was aggressively tailgating and illegally changing lanes.
He was definitely putting the public at risk while advertising your company. I have video of some of the aggressive driving if needed.
I would expect a company of your size would be interested in keeping the rates down for all services you provide. In a proper business model, this is a risk you should cover before a tragic crash (no such thing as traffic accidents, they can all be avoided) causes a significant financial loss and passing that cost to your customers.
Legal
Columbia Gas put Avalon on my gas account illegally in October 2018 to Jan 2019. Avalon took me to court for speaking and exposing their wrongdoings.
Avalon's case was dismissed without predujice. Prynnehills the new manager seemed to be the same in actions as Avalon only to change their name overcharging tenants/ scamming.
Columbia Gas is my company so why did you put Avalon on my account with out my permission. This matter is being notified to various organizations and governmental offices.
Lazy crooks
Here we go I'm a business owner in Suffolk Va. Had service moved there was a meter in new location assumed it was for heat.
Had connected turns out I don't need it. after six or seven months they said meter they put in was bad sent someone out to replace. Then the 700 plus estimated bill.
Ok getting interesting, few months later they replace meter again the tech went looking for cut off valves and there are none we have nothing running on gas, the first tech should have told us so $922.62 cents for nothing I,m still getting collection notices for $13.98. WHO OWES WHO ??

But I get you can’t spell correctly because you’re cold right? It can be 4 degrees outside and if you don’t pay that bill that gas is getting turnt off lol stop complaining you got that WiFi but you don’t have no heat lol
So, you obviously weren't paying your bills and you thought you would get a notice when they were tired of you? What did you hope for, a last last warning that would give you time to get your money together.
Look, YOU for whatever reason decided to make other things a priority to staying warm This is your fault... Accept it like a real man or woman and stop the whining. Strange you have a way to post this nonsense but can't keep an essential like gas on. To top things off, you speak of animals.
They cost money too. Sounds like the gas company decided to teach a lesson and show you they're tired of coming in last to animals or an internet-enabled device.
Learn to budget and prioritize and your utilities won't go off without warning. OK, this is the part where entitled serial dead beats say "you must work for them."
