Horrible tech

I called to have the service turned on in a rental unit . the tech tracked mud and grease all over 2 carpeted rooms. i called to complain the supervisor finally came out a month later and said the tech said she never went into those rooms and he was going to stand behind the tech. my claim denied!!!!!! I couldnt even rent the unit out because i had to wait for the supervisor to come look at the carpet. He took pics and said he could see the tracks. there has to be a way to hold them accountable. WHO DO I CALL?!?!?!?!

Columbia of gas in ohio is a rip off

They are a bunch of greedy bastards an customer service sucks. My bill was due dec 10 an they cut it off December 10.at 1140am. I never knew any company to cut u off on the day your bill due. They do that so they can get a extra 50 dollars off you. Im not even home rarely an my bill was 160 dollars. Someone needs to close them down. There customer service sucks cant wait to move from lorain county. The customer service lady got smart with me an made an excuse about their systems were down but yet they cut me off an then she lied an said they werent located in ohio

If you would have paid your bill on time it wouldn't have been shut off..I'm sure it was due before the 10th as that was the shutoff date

Columbia Gas of ohio has horrible service

Columbia Gas closed my accounts and then reopened them claiming I requested this. I had not. Added a forth account and never closed other three. I was then charged a 26.00 security deposit per each account that I have already had for years as well as a new monthly charge and last but not least...on top of all that... charged to "close" accounts I never wanted closed to begin with. When I tried to explain this was a mistake they said there was nothing they could do to undo the issue regardless if I did or did not want the accounts closed.

Public Commission of Ohio are the people that approved the change from a percentage of your gas bill to a flat rate fee for the distribution charge for pipeline maintenance no matter whether you used zero gas or a lot of gas, really very inequitable but they probably make more money that way, I also only have a gas water heater as my only gas usage in the house.

They will not charge you if they disconnect the meter, however their is a $52 reconnect fee, ------- consider that you will not pay the PUCO approved distribution fee if the meter is disconnected, but if you turn off the gas line inside your house the cost is $23.67 per month and my gas bill shows the total gas used as zero, as for reading the meters if they read your meter 6 times a year that is a lot, likely it's probably closer to 4 readings a year.

Gas rip offs

sent check, claim they never recieved it...paid over the phone with debit card in full. they still turned the gas off. called and had it turned back on,it was on in 2 days....never recieved the new bill.called to ask why or where it was,....was told it was never turned back on. i told them it was and i didnt want my bill to be late. they yanked the meter and said it would be a week before they could put another one on. that's bull ***!i asked if i owed any thing on my bill,...they said i was paid in full. the service worker said the meter was fine. they were mad because one of thier office people screwed up, and wanted to hang me for it.i'm real close to going to propane and telling them to stick it. i have 2 little boys, and now no hot water heater, or stove. my bills are always paid on time,not sure if thier check was lost or what.....i paid as soon as i found out they never recieved it. they are totally worthless! makes you wonder how they sleep at night. that's ok....they will have to answer for thier actions some day!!!!!!!!! lol!!!!!!!!!!!

Columbia Gas did the same thing to me as well in July 2012. They turned my gas off.

I paid the bill. They came back out and turned it back on,the same week they shut it off. Now it is Sept 2012 and they came and took my meter and tore up my tree lawn and took the gas line as well. Because they have no documentation that I paid the bill or no documentation that a Columbia Gas worker came out and turned my gas back on back in July.

I have 2 boys as well and no hot water, because they messed up by not notating there file about my bill being paid and someone coming out to turn my gas back on I am being accused for tampering with the gas line, because someone didnt notate my file that the gas was turned back on by a worker from Columbia Gas. They accuse me of getting someone from the outside to turn my gas back on!!!!

Who is running this place "Columbia Gas"?! I am so angry and stressed out because they made the mistake not me!

Columbia utility promised a lower rate than *** Ed to supply electricity.

In an effort to try and save money I decided to shop around for an ESCO. I came across Columbia utility. They promised 6.2cents/kwh. When I got my bill it was more than double that. Almost 13cents/kWh! I read thru the entire bill to be even further disgusted. I got double taxed and there was a small notation on the bottom of my bill that said this bill reflected a 7% power savings. I laughed because they ended up charging me more than 100% on my bill. I called up this power supplier and told them what happened. I was offered no explanation of how this could have happened. But I should give them another chance. I said no thank you and canceled my account right on the spot. They did however promise me a credit to my account. But it'll take 2 months. Let's see what happens.

They turned ours off do to a few missed payments. Ex loss of job! I can now get it turned back on but theyre wanting 208.55 which is more than what my bill was for and their reconnect fee is 55.00 i called today and their rude butrs refuse to atleast let me pay the past due amount and recconect fee instead of the 208.00 do they care abojt laws,etc heck no!

Columbia Gas of Ohio - Scam

In discontinuing my service of Columbia Gas of Ohio for an apartment that I was renting, my lease ended at the end of the month which was June 30. I requested to have the gas services discontinued per the lease agreement and transferred back over the apartment owner by the beginning of the month - July 1. Columbia Gas of Ohio billed me for the month of June which I had no issues with but Columbia Gas of Ohio again billed additional money for the month of July stating it was a customer service fee for an estimated reading of July 1 of 0 Gas Used. I informed that them that my service stopped on June 30th and the turn over of the gas service was for July 1 to the apartment owner. They stated that if I would of discontinued service before July 1st had services turned over to the apartment owner on June 30th, I would not have incurred any extra fees. I informed them that this was a scam on their part and Columbia Gas of Ohio should place this on their Columbia Gas of Ohio website. All the rep could say, I am sorry but this is Columbia Gas of Ohio policy. What a scam and I want people to know this about Columbia Gas of Ohio.

Contact the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio at 800-686-**** to try to get the issue resolved in your favor. Normally, I would say contact the Ohio Consumers' Counsel for your best bet, but the governor and the Ohio Legislature eliminated its call center and 50 percent of its budget.

Regrettably Columbia Gas is a company that makes a living by scamming people. I am a service tech for a heating and air company and every time I request a meter upgrade from Columbia Gas they try to scam the customer out of thousands of dollars with blatant lies. Examples are, "the gas line from the street will not carry the load requested, you will need to upgrade the line at a cost of $2,300. "Your meter needs to be relocated at a cost of $1,900 + the cost of piping the internal lines to the new meter location"

Both of these examples are blatant lies told to residential customers who have little or no knowledge of codes or gas load requirements in an attempt to line the pockets of Columbia Gas

I guess they figure if even a small percentage of their customers fall for this scam Columbia Gas profits increase, so be warned and do not allow them to make you their next victim.
