Threatening to shut off gas

Columbia gas threatened to shut off my gas because they need to come for a saftey inspection. I made an appt. for July 12th but they are still threatening to shut off the gas. The bills are always paid never late and I made the appt. but this is not enough for them. I called and asked them if they can come now. No. I asked if I could make 2 appt. in case no one shows up on the 12th. No. I tried to give then 2 phone numbers to call in case the tech has problems finding us. No. What else do they want me to do? I have no idea why they would want to continue to send letters threatening to shut off the gas if I paid all my bills on time and made an appt. for them to come out. What could they gain from this? Why not just come and do the inspection? I don't know what else I can do for them.

What more can I do to satisfy Columbia Gas?

Columbia Gas threatened to shut off our gas because an inspection was due. I made an appt for Sat July 12th but they are still threatening to shut it off. What more can I do? I called them and said come now. But they said they can't. So I kept the appt. for the 12th. I asked if I could make another appt sooner and keep the one on the 12th in case no one showed up on the 12th but they said no. I tried to give them multiple phone #'s to call before the appt. but no only one # is allowed. I don't understand what they want from me. They want to inspect so I made an appt but apparently that is not enough. I have no idea what they want from me.

Landlord of Rental Units Ripped Off Everytime a new tenant moves in or out

Everytime a tenant moves in or out I get a bill with adjusted dates to charge me for the current month. Then I get another bill with just 1 or 2 units used plus there basic service fee again $23.00-27.00/per bill, and this second bill is always an Estimated reading, and I'm sure they are billing the new tenant for there basic charge plus usage whatever they feel like charging for usage. The are triple billing everytime a new apartment is rented. I have been getting ripped off by Columbia Gas of Ohio for years and as time goes on they find more ways to rip off their customers. They say they are able to do this because the Public Utilities Co. says they can. I think it's time to call Channel 11 & 13 Action News. We need a Class Action started against this Co., lets put them out of business, they have enough of our money.

Columbia Gas - Gas Leak Review from Butler, Pennsylvania

We have had the road gas line leaking for over 8 months or more. Yes they have been out 3 times during that time to try to fix the problem. But it's still not fixed. The gas is coming into my house windows. Can't sit outside with out smelling it . Gives me head aces and turns my stomach. I have 3 kids and I do not want to get sick from inhaling it all the time it's not healthy. I've said about this before when I've called and nothing has been done.

I scheduled a ticket to have my gas turned back on last Friday and 5 day later and two calls to confirm the reservation, two emergency excuses and no service... Been 5 days. *** service. CG sucks The last tech called me at 6 and said he is thirty minutes away. It is nine pm and my wife is crying. My daughter is crying. My son is crying. Where is the support... Columbia Gas Cartel

I'm a single, older, disabled woman struggling to pay my basic bills. For 6 years I've dealt with Columbia Gas in Pennsylvania. In 6 years, they've always been paid altho, it was often late. Had a balance of $250 and paid $175 with a note, I'd pay remainder on 3rd of month when able. They called 8-10 times, threatening me with shut off if they did not receive the remainder NOW. They then sent their thugs up to my apt. where they wandered about, complained to my landlord, hung a huge sign on my door and embarrassed me in front of my neighbors. I received notices by mail every other day threatening shut off. I was forced to apply for CAP/dollar energy fund. Over the phone, I was forced to agree to a big long contract. One question was, "I agree that Columbia Gas can buy gas in my name". Columbia Gas just raised their HIGH prices by almost 8%, last month. They are thugs, at best. When, they ask you to donate a dollar to "help a neighbor" on your bill? DON'T. It's a scam to extort money from you.I am forced to pay late charges and price hikes on top of their HIGH prices. They're fracking the *** out of Pennsylvania. We live in a toxic hellhole created by the fracking industry but we're expected to pay BIG BUCKS for our gas. Columbia Gas Cartel has it all locked down here. There is no other company available to switch to. After, 6 years of their thuggery, I'm considering moving.

Refused to turn gas on in 19 degree weather

Moved to new home. Columbia gas told me I had to wait up to 10 days for them to come out. Mean while it is in the teens out. I call and beg them for heat. I am told go get a hotel, use your stove, just wonder who"s paying the hotel. And how do I use stove it's gas you ***. Now very sick 600 for meds and no heat. Called again and told aaah sorry get there when we get there. Pipes burst $2,580 to fix. Hospital bill,and expensive meds. Thank you Colombia gas for making me less than human. My attorney will be calling.PS its 11 degrees in my house.

You are a *** ... When you move into a new home or apartment, first thing you must do before moving in is get the utilites turned on ..

Everybody from the rental office to the real estate agent would tell you that.. Second during the winter season the water company would NOT turn on the water unless the gas is on.. If the water was already on before you moved in then you could have just turned off the valve to water meter from preventing any pipes from breaking... I don't know if your from this planet but there is something called a space heater...

Works great!

You have nobody else to blame but yourself because all those things should of been avoided... So please no more crying

Columbia Gas of Kentucky- Dishonest Technician for creating a fraudulent report entry

On Thursday, November 14, 2013, I called Columbia Gas Direct Link, serving Kentucky, to pay my bill and have service restored. The Rep stated she could put the order in for today, Saturday, November 16, 2013. I asked her why I had to wait so long, so she entered the order to be done Thursday, the 14th or Friday the 16th. I requested the call ahead. I stayed home from work Thursday and Friday to make sure I could answer the phone and let the technician in. Everything in our home is gas...heat, stove, and water heater. Friday came, I waited and waited. During the 4 o'clock to 5 o'clock hour, I called Customer Service, Again. I was told that the techs had until Midnight, but the order was seen, and I was getting a call. Still waited. By 11:07pm, the service was not restored, so I called the Customer Service number only to hear, "Our office is currently closed. Please call M-F........." So I pressed the extension for Emergencies, this Rep stated that the Tech entered that he/she called at 4:10p then at 4:20p, and that I would have to call Customer Service on Monday, to 'reschedule' a re-connect. This means Another missed work day. This means, bein without heat, hot water, or the ability to cook for five days (11/14/2013-11/18/2013); that is, if another two days aren't taken to restore service. Honesty, Morals, Ethics, Standards of Professionalism, and Integrity are some things Columbia Gas of Kentucky, and other states, it seems, knows little about. If the Tech 'had called', it would have shown in the system while I was on another phone with Customer Service. I have a detailed call log, which clearly shows no calls during, nor voicemails received during the Tech reported times. When there is documentation, there Should be QA done to ensure the Accuracy of the information. Clearly this Isn't the case. This is the same company upon which, Everytime I move, I've paid a Security Deposit to start service, only for them to say, they have no record of it. I've moved five times at $300/resident, that's $1500 dollars they've taken from me, over the years. A formal complaint will be filed; as well as, Legal Action will be taken. I suggest to everyone that has had a bad experience, file a complaint with the BBB, in your respective area. As long as nothing is Said, Nothing will be done to hold Columbia Gas, it's employees, and affiliates Accountable.

Waste of time and money

I've told Columbia gas to call me and not my husband if there was ever and issue with the gas because he works all the time where he can't get to the phone. I work as well but can answer my phone. So they shut off our gas yesterday even though I was home. They never knocked, called, or left anything at the door. After speaking with them they said its not their responsibility. I also had to pay a $50 fee. They guaranteed me someone would be here at 8 am to turn it back on. I asked that they took the fee off seeing it just happened to be my day off and if someone had called or knocked I would have taken care of it. They said that because the bill was in my husbands name that I would have to be an authorized user to pay the bill. I stated that I was. they verified it but said they don't call me unless there's a leak. If i wanted them to call me that I would have to call a different department and set it up that way which no one ever told me. I figured that authorized is authorized especially because when my husband added me, they said I was authorized. I would also think that a company would call both numbers listed. Anyhow I asked them when they could come out to turn it back on. The lady put me on hold for 45 mins and said we have you on for 8am tomorrow and you don't have to be home. Well its 9:30 and no one arrived so I called and they said that they could show up anytime between now and 11pm. Hello?! I was told I didn't have to be here (which seemed odd since they had to relight everything but they assured me that I wouldnt). They also said that the only I could schedule an appointment was a week from today and if I wanted to leave to leave a tech my key. Um no. I am so mad. I rented a truck because I was planning on moving my store to a separate location today. They waste so much of my time and money. In return they bill you excessively (like the 25 minimum bill. How are you supposed to conserve energy but be billed for more than you use. I will use 25 worth if I'm paying 25 worth. They said that's meter reading cost. Fine. I'll read my own meter and you can come out in September and verify that my numbers are correct for the summer. I should bill them 25 a month). I hate Columbia gas. They said the 50 fee was an Ohio law for reconnection and there was nothing they could do about it. Sounds like a scam that only lines the pockets of the department that put that law on the books. What do they care if a third party gas company gets paid??? Oh and I got a "heartfelt apology", but I will have to spend my only day off to move sitting here waiting for the tech to get here anytime from now til 11pm.

I would like to know how i can file a formal complaint against Columbia Gas. This company is nothing but some sorry *** rip off artist.

They had the nerve to shut off my gas twice in one month. In addition, the driver had the nerve to park his company truck in my driveway, not to mention, place the shut off notice on my storm door and applied a ton of tape on one sheet of paper. I really dislike this company and I want to file a formal compliant against them for over charging for those outrageous reconnect fees. In addition, they had the nerve to shut off my gas when it was forecast that the temp was going to drop on a Friday night.

When i arrive home that evening, it was already cold and I had to wait until the following week for some dumb *** to come back to restore my service.

Here is it 2:13pm, I had to lost a full day from work, because of this sorry *** company. I told them, if you shut my service off one more time, I promise I will have Columbia Gas, come and take their meter off my house.

Worst company ever! They think just because they are the only provider they can do what they want and don't care about customer service. Online it says to call 2 business days before moving well we called way before then and they had the nerve to tell me that service would not be turned on for atleast 5 business days. We just bought our first home and closing date was pushed back so gas was turned off by owner and when we went to transfer our service they could not do so. I have painters coming to paint which can't be done now, I have parents coming in town which they can't come when they were coming now, I work 6 days a week so this was the only time I had off to move, get house painted, and parents helping us move into our new home but columbia gas has to ruin everything from horrible customer service and doing nothing about it. We have to be moved out of our current place too so now we have to be in a cold place for days with no service when I have been a customer for 10 plus years and always pay my bill but it is too inconveintly for them to come out to our house earlier

Par for the course with these ***ers. I have horror stories aplenty.

Not limited to a $3300 bill, which I asked them to prove. I got a pencil whipped spreadsheet showing $750+ dollars for a July bill when all I was using was a stove. Including a never terminated service when I moved for 2+ years. Yet, I know if I don't pay my bill they shut it off in no time.

I have had my billing date moved up by 15 days twice in one month.

Etcetera. You see, when planet killing is your business, and you have a monopoly on all the pipes except toward Erie, I think ethical behavior towards customers lies outside of their wheelhouse.

I just moved out of my apartment and discontinued service. I unknowingly was on their "budget plan" which apparently spreads out an even price throughout the year.

I always paid on time and was shocked to receive my final bill of $250.00. After waiting almost 15 minutes to get through the customer service, I was told that these were charges that I was responsible for and they encouraged me to to arrange a payment plan as if I was still at the property for the next 3-4 months.

Ridiculous. I've asked for all proof of my agreeing to this plan as well as the metered charges and I'll see if there is anything I can do to fight it but this evil empire will most likely get my money because I was foolish enough to use their service.

Because I was not using gas, they replaced meter 2 times

I was and do not use gas to heat with. Because Columbia Gas thought I should, they came in, shut off my gas, replaced the meter (they felt I was cheating them and the meter was broken), then took 3 more days to turn it back on. I was unable to use the stove, which I do, but it rarely goes about their blood sucking min charge of $23. Three years pass, and they send me another letter that they will be doing the same. I called them, told them I would contact every newspaper in the area and expose the scam they are running on customers. They have since left me alone. The other thing they do is give you very little time to pay your bill. If you happen to be out of town on work when the bill arrives, by the time you get it, send it off, you are late. They truly are a blood sucking monopoly.

Do the research and expose how small towns corrupt utilities work hand and hand to violate you'd civil rights.

Columbia gas of ohio is always there when unethical practices are needed they feel invincible and love the drama they should all be arrested but that will never happen since they help out the small town so called law enforcement and for the record I'm not a disgruntled ex crook trying to get pay back.

Never been arrested always follow the law. Do research and you we see what I'm talking about is true.

Charge for gas not used

columbia gas. steals from the elderly. i have a gas furnace,(i have no other appliances or products that use gas. i shut my furnace off in march and do not turn back on until. oct. or nov. depending on the weather. i would like to add i am not on their budget.if the weather is cold in between i sit around in sweater and boots to keep warm. yet columbia gas continues to bill me $25.00 a month. even though i do not use gas.when i inquired about the bill i was told it was to maintain the meter.how much maintenance does it need. i am a senior citizen on a very low income. any other seniors out there that columbia gas is stealing from. please respond.
