Columbia Gas Review from Sparks Glencoe, Maryland

Absolutely disgusted by the service received from this company. If there was a way for me to get gas through a different company I would do it in a heartbeat. My family has to go 5 days without hot water. Spoke to a supervisor and she was rude and unsympathetic of the situation. The information we were given was misleading. It should NEVER take three business days to have an essential element of your home connected. If they needed someone to read my meter so they could get paid, you can bet your sweet bottom they would have a tech at my home same day. I've only ever had worse service from Verizon and Comcast. Now I am adding Columbia Gas to my list.

Would not turn gas on with three small children

Customer service would not turn gas on in the home my THREE YOUNG CHILDREN live in Parma, OH. Bill was paid, said they needed to speak to who the account name was in, they tried to call but on hold for over 40 minutes on lunch break and had to return to work. Still refuse to turn gas on until person on account calls, well they close at 7 and person not home from work, Columbia Gas aware of call earlier but it was 12:33 so after 12:30 will not turn on till next day, guess what now they are saying no appointment was made. Can not believe a Company would do this :( I tried to put in my name told me would take at least 5 days. Shame on you Columbia Gas Company and all of your Supervisors, just mean !

Columbia Gas - Gas Service Review

My gas was disconnected for $200, when the tech came and turned it off he did not knock on the door, just shut it off and put a disconnect order in my mailbox. Paid the bill and reconnect fee to have service restored the same day. They asked to keep my dogs locked up and away from the tech, and they asked for my phone number. I sat here for 3 hours waiting for them to call, no call; the dogs did not bark from inside the house so he did NOT knock on the door, yet he put a notice in the system that I was here and did not answer. Now I have to wait until Monday, three days from now to wait AGAIN. WHEN I CALLED COLUMBIA GAS OF OHIO, THE SAID THEY HAVE TO GO BY WHAT THE TECH SAYS....SMH. THE TECH LIED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH COLUMBIA GAS, THE LAST TIME I WAITED FOR 22 DAYS IN SUB DEGREE WEATHER! COLUMBIA GAS DOESN'T CARE THAT I TOOK OFF WORK, BUT IF I CANNOT GO TO WORK FOR WAITING FOR THEM, THEN HOW AM I SUPPOSEDO TO PAY THE BILL? TRULY DISGUSTED AND ANNOYED. I WISH I COULD SWITCH PROVIDER.

Issues with starting my service - PAINFUL and ANNOYING columbia gas

Worst customer service. Their employees needs some patience when they come in to set up service. The person who called me didn't even bother to attend my call after I called him back. This is annoying and the wait time is more than 4 days to get an appointment. I received a call that the guy will be at my apartment in 30 mins and I was waiting for 32 mins and went to the restroom and realized the guy had come, knocked and left a notice for missing the appointment. This is what you call customer care from columbia gas's perspective. I wish I had some other options.

Columbia Gas - Gas Service Review from Hanover, Pennsylvania

We tried to start our service in our property bought on a Friday and were informed that the service could not even be connected until the following Thursday. We have a newborn child and even under those conditions we were meet by a reaction of 'tough luck, deal with it'. This disgusting reaction to emergency situations is something i have never experienced. I wish i had another service option as i now fear for my child's health due to the ineptitude of this company's services department

You shouldn't excpect anyone to just drop what they are doing to make you a priority. If you have. A small child you should have remembered to have the utilities put in your name before you moved in other people have to wait and other people call ahead of time shame on us as the consumer for expecting special treatment because we have a baby stop making that a burden on everyone else you *** up and now you pooped out a baby take responsibility for yourself

I should have already filed a report with the PUC over Columbia. I wonder if and why others wouldn't already have done so.

As a residential customer, I only use natural gas in the winter for heat (less than 6 mos. of the year), yet pay a now 17.00 customer charge every month.

This is excessive and even on months when gas is used the charge is sometimes 2/3 of my bill. Extortion.

Charged a deposit after customer representative said their was no deposit

I called to reconnect my service with Columbia Gas of Kentucky. In the summer I turn the gas off to save money. Then in the winter I called to reconnect my service. The customer representative told me that I was in good standing with their company. Therefore there was no deposit necessary. Then I received a bill for $240.00 dollars. There was a deposit included on my bill. When I called the company, they admitted that their representative, did say their was no deposit. However they refused to refund the deposit. Furthermore the supervisor proceeded to blame my credit score for the deposit. When I was told there was no deposit. The company says one thing and then does another. Then instead of rectify the matter, Company Gas lays blame on their customers.

Why waste your time, they dont care about their customers situation even new Customers. You can call just to get the run around and when you ask to Speak to a supervisor your told there to busy, will have to call you back. Never to get that call. I think there taught "in 5 day" . Their answer for everything!!

Worst Utility Company columbia Gas

Columbia Gas is the worst company I have ever dealt with. No customer service at all. They have no compassion for their customers if your late paying your bill they will shut you off at the blink of an eye.Charging $50.00 now to re-connect service and charges a flat fee of $17.50 in off seasons when the gas isn't even on just to keep the service at your address. I will never again live in a home where they supply the gas for heating and I purposely bought a all electric home after having to deal with theses fools for 27 years.

Hate this company

I scheduled a transfer for services since I was moving into a new house. They disconnected my services at my old location and never turned on my service at my new location. When I moved into the new location, the gas was already on. I assumed the transfer had been made. Fast forward 4 weeks later, the Columbia Gas man comes out and removes my meter. On a Thursday!! States we have tampered with the meter. It's not my fault the old tenants illegally turned back on gas. Now they want me to fax over my lease. Which I did within 10 mins. Now it will take 2 business days for the investigation to complete and then who knows what happens next. This is crazy. I did everything right. My electric,water, and cable all transferred over without any issues. But Im now gonna be stuck almost a week at least with no heat. Im reporting them to PUCO.

Columbia Gas - Appointment Schedule Review

Had to wait a week to get an appointment to get connected, then when its time for them to show up there no where to be found. Then i learn the guy lied and said i didnt awnser my phone or door, when actually i was waiting for him in the parking lot for four hours with my phone in my hand. No notice to say there not comeing and no way to talk to anyone after 7. 2nd time this has happend. WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!!

Columbia Gas - Cancelled Service Charges Review

The worst gas company I've ever dealt with! My husband joined the Military and we moved out of our apartment. We still kept getting bills for the gas! They wouldn't take it out of our name and we weren't making enough to pay for it. My husband was given an honorable discharge out of the service just so he could get this problem taken care of. We payed it off and it's out of our nane and they're still billing us! Someone needs to put an end to this horrible company.

Absolutely agree. I understand its the "cost" of having had an unpaid bill; however, seems absolutely crazy to penalize someone by adding excessive fees and most likely prevent them from paying the next gas bill. Then, AFTER paying the amount overdue, the reconnect fee, the deposit and any and all other fees assessed, IN FULL, having to wait 2-4 days to have service restored, ultimately leaving families without hot water, without the ability to cook, heat their home etc., is simply wrong....period.

SUBCONTRACTOR HAS CALLED OVER 18 TIMES WITH MY PARENTS NAME TO CHECK THE GAS METER. I HAD MY CLEVELAND LAWYER FILL OUT ALL THE PPWK AND HAVE IT NOTARIZED AND SENT TO PA. THEY STILL CALL WITH MY PARENTS NAME. I HAD RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE, FAIL TO UPDATE INFORMATION AT THE GAS CO AND AT THE CONTRACTORS. THANKS FOR REMINDING ME I SERVED THIS USA AND SO DID MY ENTIRE FAMILY. WHAT A BAD UTILITY. I DON'T NEED THIS TREATMENT AND CONSIDERING SUING, SAD THAT WE DON'T TAKE CARE OF THE MILITARY. Combia gas of Pa. removed the gas service without notice.

I recently purchased a house that was empty for a few years. I have been in the house for two months and did not bother to turn on the gas in the hottest months in the summer. So they came out one morning and took out the service. They proceeded to say they would put it back, then called later saying I had to have a registered plumber come out and hook everything back up because they took everything back to the tap and they wanted me to pay for another tap. The tap is directly under the meter location! It already exists but they refuse to do anything to put back what they took! While I am living in the house! They came without notice and dug it up in my yard during the morning. Customer service is useless!! most do not know what they talking about and they sure don't care about the customer to resolve issues! They could contact me only if they are going to repair what they did without notice. If not I will seek other means to the damage to my property too without notice.
