Columbia Gas - Gas Review

So I had my gas turned off do to none pay which was totally my fault but as soon I found out I called paid the bill in full even ended up with a 27.00 credit on my bill for the next month of service. This happened the day before thanksgiving 2016, after paying in full I was told that nobody could come out till Monday the 28th to turn service back on. This was at noon, over the remainder of the day I went back in forth with them and at 5pm was told tec''s stop running at 4:30 if I had called in earlier they may have been able to help I had been calling for hours at that point. Then we find out later that night my sister in law had her service turned off for repair work and they never turned it back on she called and was told they would come out right away and get service back on when they didn't show up after hours she called back was told she needs to just chill out tec's run till midnight!!! They finally showed up at 11pm to get her service back on and I'm still waiting with 3 kids no gas not heat hot water or anything!

What was going on with your sister, was different then your situation. The night before Thanksgiving technicians stop disconnects and connects for new customers/Monday customers at 430, your sister had repair work.

Most likely turned off for a leak or some sort, no fault of her own, so certain techs were on until midnight for these situations.

If you don't pay your bill when it's due you risk your services being turned off, and unfortunately during heating season there's alot of reconnects, techs only have so many hours of work, so unfortunately they can't get to everyone in 1 day. Pay your bill, of get help to stop that from happening.

They don't care about the consumer

Columbia Gas is the worst they have nothing but inconsiderate and lying people who works there. They lie and say they called or came by. When we called off and stayed the whole day with phone by us. They charge us $20-$30 a month when we are not using there service. We only use gas for furnace. But in spring and summer they are still charging us. They always says there is a leak to stall service on. They are horrible! Just because they are the only gas company. We need to take this to the government and not let them monopolize it.

I made a payment agreement for sept. 12th... So I call sept. 12 from work at 1:20ish (20 min after I get paid) to pay my bill... And it says to restore service.. Blah blah blah.. So I speak with someone.. He apologizes.. Says he's going to get this resolved.. He sees my payment agreement is for the 12th.. Says he will call me back either way.. Never heard back so I call back.. I'm told they will be here by 8:30pm... Next day still NO GAS!!! I just spoke with a supervisor who tells me it's my fault I should have payed by the 11th!!! Attorney has been contacted!! I already pay too much for this service and now they are insulting my intelligence!!!

Paid my bill and gas is still not on and I got kids

Columbia gas said that my gas would be back on 8/30/16. I took time away from work and told them to even call me 30 mins. before they came. It's now 10:23pm and still nobody's called. Customer service lady didn't know what time they would arrive, but said that my service would be turn back on today. Luckily I didn't leave a key or the door unlock for them, in case someone robbed me. I'm am very angry that nobody can do anything about it. You don't need to b home to get your gas turn off, but you need to be home to get it turn back on so they can come in your home! That's ***!

Please be advised that they don't have to have access to shutoff gas. However for turning it on the must inspect all of the house lines and piping.

It's a process.

For example you have a pilot stove and don't shut off the supply valve. You'd expect them to turn on your gas with an appliance purging gas into your house and not know about it???

Came for a shut off notice then told me that regardless if i paid my bill or not they wouldn't turn my gas back on until i had them come and move my meter to the outside of my house!! How is that legal?? Especially when i have an autistic child in my home as well. Smh the bbb and local government agencies will be called on this injustice!

My pilot light is out. Not sure what happened, as the bill is paid. I have called Columbia 6 times today. I go through the automated service, only for the computer to tell me to call back later. Every. Single. Time. I have a six year old that needs a bath and these idiots won't even take a phone call.

I think the *** is you because the automated system will take you right to a customer service rep 1000S of people a day call. I'm sure you have a child to bath from 7 am to 7pm plus they don't light pilot lights if your gas is on call a qualified contractor not their problem IDIOIT WHO HAS NO TIME TO use a automated system but to type a complaint online lol.

I have rung customer service for help as my gas was turned off while I was in hospital with my daughter I paid the bill explained I needed to go back to the hospital could they get my gas connected. Was told it will take 24 hours and I need to be home or the won't reconnect it not only can I not leave the house I can go to the hospital to pick up my daughter until the gas is connected I asked for an escalation and had the two rudest call center staff I have ever encountered. I managed a 150 person call center and would have fired these individuals if they worked fit me. I will move from Sharon just do I don't have to deal with this disrespectful rude bad service company ever again. If you have a choice don't pick Columbia Gas ever

If gas is shutoff in Ohio for nonpayment, you must pay the delinquent amount that was listed on your disconnection notice and you must pay a deposit to reestablish your creditworthiness. Unless of course you already have a deposit. You will also be required to pay the reconnection charge in Columbia's Tariff.

We recently missed a payment and our gas was shut off. It has since been paid, and someone was supposedly supposed to come out and turn it back on. Temperatures are dropping very low this weekend, so it is important for us to have heat and hot water. When I called to check the status of the person who was coming to turn it back on, they told me it was "In-progress", however, he has yet to show up. Then we were told he must have had some kind of "emergency". The only emergency in this situation is that we must pay money to your disorganized, unprofessional organization. Your employees are clearly poorly managed. Your staff is rude on the phone. It is completely unacceptable that I paid you, and still have to languish in freezing temperatures all weekend because your employee decided to take the afternoon off, and lie about work at my house being "in-progress". That such a message is being sent out shows you how unethical your employees are. That becomes the image of your company. But I guess you don't have to worry about your image when you are monopolizing the entire city. I'm just accustomed to supporting businesses and companies that provide their service with at least some level of effort put towards customer satisfaction. I am not accustomed to giving my hard earned money to organizations who could not care less. That is how the economy is supposed to work. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, pathetic organizations like this one will be crushed and forgotten like they should be.

I totally agree with every word you said you said it all so well. I'm sick of there monopolizing ways and we have to pay them or we freeze that don't give a *** at all its all about greed instead of helping us people out here. Well you know what's Said happens when the greed and the people and the organizations behind it all taking from us what happens to them they fall and grumble eventually so we will just all wait it out I guess Right ?

Wouldn't you realize that you had more money in your bank then normal? So apparently you check your bank account as much as you call to speak to a rep about your gas account.

I mean I'm not the one to use autopay but if I would choose to any way I would be checking up on that and making sure the payment was taken out the first month.

Just saying. Your fault not the gas company.

Horrible company! Came home from work to a shut off notice and it was snowing and 30 something degrees outside. I had every intention of paying the bill, ehichI did immediately before I left for my flight the next morning. Called customer service and was told I had to call back in the am, so my son and I had to sleep in a cold house overnight. I already let them know that if we get sick, I'm bringing a suit against them. I'm already lawyered up. I see that they're lying to Congress about how they're helping people. I work close enough to Congress (walking distance) that I can walk up there and tell them the truth.
