Did you get this resolved with someone higher up?? I had the same issue but they left us with water all over our basement and now they are charging us even more to come back and get a plumber.

It was fine before they came. I was just wondering if you got anything from the higher ups?

Pissed

Service was disconnected. Paid within an hour. Agent said it would be turned on the following week. I said absolutely not! Paid to have a tech come out the next day. I left for work the next day and saw a tag hanging on the front door. It said sorry we missed you. WTH?? Had to call them that morning to have them come out. Someone finally came, but they wouldn't light the pilot. I had to call again, but they wouldn't send anyone out just to light, when the agent never asked me if I wanted it lit. I hate them!!!

Columbia lets other people use my gas

I contacted columbia gas on 10/16/2017 to have my gas discontinued because I had moved. They insisted that they needed 5 days. They scheduled the shutoff for 10/23 - 7 days. I contacted Better Business Bureau and a representative said meter the would be read on the 19th and that the bill would be prorated. (how can a gas bill be prorated?) As of 10/25/2017 the gas has not been discontinued from my name, which means columbia gas is letting other people use my account. I explained when I called that I had a very vindictive (previous) landlord and would not put it past him to turn the heat up to 85 and build up my billing. As a Senior, it's very upsetting to me that Columbia Gas has the right to 'basically give' my gas away to someone else and charge me for it.

My solution is to disconnect the gas and rate the bill back to September 23rd with just the $12.20 customer charge.

Sucks Techs are criminals.

You are responsible for your house lines.

That is typically from the outlet of the meter into your house.

Worst call center experience

Went to pay my first bill on their web site. Brand new customer. I signed up for direct debit through my checking account. I accomplished that transaction and went to pay my current bill based on their directive that direct debit would not take effect until the next billing cycle. The system would not allow me to make an on-line payment wit an error message that stated I was enrolled in automatic bill payment, ok, a flaw in their web design, however, the major flaw is their call center. They basically told me I would have to pay to make my first payment or delete my enrollment make my first payment and then re-enroll. Wow can't I just make my payment now without a fee, No No is the answer. Yes you must pay or delete and start over.! Poorly trained representatives, Bad first impression!

Yet, down the road had you thought oh my automatic payment didn't work you then would have manually paid your bill, and once the autopay came out you would have called complaining that 2 payments were taken out!

They ignore faxes

I have been trying to get several of our properties in the correct names and tax IDs I have faxed their owner agent agreements multiple times since 10/2015. My fax confirmations say all pages went through. When we call they say they never received them, we verify the fax number is correct every time. We ask if we can have a contact and they refuse. They are by far the worst utility company to work with. AEP and Columbus City of Water had everything done within a couple of days and we cannot even get Columbia Gas to respond. We get the same response every time we call basically saying we are sorry about your luck.

Even if I use no gas at all I still receive a bill for over $28 per month. Freakin crooks.

How can you fight a monopoly. Next summer I will shut off my gas for 3 months and even though they charge a $56 reconnect fee (another rip off) I will save $28.

Columbia Gas representatives have a script

The customer service people are very pleasant. But my problem was a mathematical one generated by, what the customer service representative calls, "complicated" formulation. I got the formula. It was published on court documents that I found on a regulating state agency's website. But the representative could not provide me with the numbers to plug in. So I still do not have a satisfactory answer to my question "why this month's bill is 25% higher than last month's bill". Despite the fact I actually used the same amount of natural gas. I believe the customer service representatives have scripts ... Not information. I do not like being placated. I want to know how the company justifies a bill based on "what the computer says". Computers are only as good as the people who manage them.

This is my second night without heat thanks to bill matrix for posting my money to the wrong account and the only gas company in the area and their horrible customer service fees. I live in the Richmond Virginia area and i paid my gas bill with bill matrix in January and the money was applied to a dominion account.... then i called and got it straight....so i thought. They never applied the credit and yesterday my gas was disconnected for the first time ever for less than 240. 116.00 which was paid in January. They tried to charge me a disconnect fee of 87.00. I said seriously this is not my fault. After hours of conversation the 87.00 was removed. Then i was told if i wanted them to come today it will cost 87.00 for expedite fee. So i will suffer tonight this is so wrong. I need to call the news it is o form of extortion.

Bill matrix applies the payment to the account number that you give them. So though it was a mistake, it was your mistake. Therefore you should have called Columbia Gas and made sure the payment was applied correctly.
